Teacher: Dear students, guests, today we have a very interesting lesson about computers, virtual reality and virtual tourism and Modern technology. The students will try to give their own arguments if computers are useful or not. Try to think about the words said by Pablo Picasso “Computers are useless. They can only give you answers”. Is that so? What do you think? Let’s give your own suggestion. Our life is impossible without modern technology, without using computers and other techniques. Am I right? Try to show what you’ve learned about virtual reality and imagine our life in the future.
P1 - Imagine our lives in the next 20 years, How do you think technology will change our lives.
All cars will operate with the help of the computers;
Internet will help children to study and get education. They ‘ll help to do their homeworks.
E-mail even now is used for communication. We send our messages and information to our friends using computers.
T - Yes, you’re right. Let’s review some words from our previous lessons.

And what about Internet? ( 1 student- Computers play an important role in our life. For example, we use them at home and at school. We work on them everywhere and every time we can. Work for business and for pleasure.
- Who has a computer at home? –
- What do you do with it?
- Some people love computers and other hate them. What about you, ….?
- Personal computers first appeared in the mid-1970s, and since then they have changed our lives forever. In the future computers may change the way we think about reality. What is virtual reality?- How does it work?
- Работа с текстом “A spymaster on the Net”.
Have you ever written an e-mail (message)? Have you read Internet pages? – YES. Show your Websites – your homework.
Teacher: What do you think our schools will be like in the future?
- Many people see e-learning, learning from home via the computer, as a way to improve our education system. I strongly believe, that replacing traditional schools with e-learning would be a big mistake. In Bashkortostan, many disabled students start e learning.
- First of all, attending schools teaches us how to socialize with others. We learn how to get along with students of all ages as well as with the teachers.
Moreover, extra-curricular activities such as team sports, the school newspaper and clubs are also important. These activities help us to learn how to express our opinions as well as to listen to and respect the opinion of others.
- On the other hand, supporters of e-learning feel that learning from home by computer is less costly for the country. For instance, the government would save a lot of money because it wouldn’t have to build schools or hire so many teachers.
- It seems to me, that if traditional schools are replaced by e-learning, our children will grow up without the necessary skills to form meaningful relationships with others. As a result, our society will become a world full of lonely people who don’t know how to communicate with each other.
Teacher : Thank you very much for your brilliant discussion . Can you answer some questions about the history of the Internet?
You worked today very well and your marks are …. Now write your Home task for the next lesson…..
Thank you for your answers and attention. Today you spoke about Internet, e-learning, showed your Websites , listened to the text about Bill Gates and did many interesting things. Now we can answer to Pablo Picasso’s words – that Computers are very useful in our everyday lives. Everybody uses them everywhere.
Everyone has heard of Bill Gates, the icon of American business and the richest man in the world.
Microsoft has become the world’s largest computer software company. Although the company is in big trouble today – the US government has broken it up – experts say it will remain successful.
Bill Gates was born on the 28th of October 1955, in Seattle, USA. From his parents Bill got a good business sense and quick mind. His father is a lawyer and his late mother was a teacher and then a company director.
After finishing school in 1973, Bill went to Harvard, America’s most famous university. Most of the time he worked on the computers in the university laboratory. The next year, he and Paul Allen wrote an operating programme for the Altair, one of the world’s first microcomputers. Bill knew, even then, that he would revolutionize the world of computing and he left Harvard before finishing his studies.
The two friends started Microsoft in 1975, and very soon, it became a business success.
In 1980, Gates bought a small company which produced an operating system called DOS. He made some changes to it and renamed it to MS-DOS. He sold the rights to use this system to IBM. Since 1980 MS-DOS has been the standard operating system for all PCs. Microsoft has also developed such well-known programmes as Windows, Excel and Internet Explorer.
Bill’s dream is to computerize everything – TVs, telephones, lights, even the way you cook diner…
One reason for his success is that Bill has always been very ambitious and hard working. This hasn’t left him much time for normal personal life, but in 1994 he married Melinda French, a Microsoft employee. The couple has two children: a daughter, born in 1996, and a son, born in 1999. Bill Gates has written two books, The Road Ahead (1995) and Business and the Speed of Thought (1999). Both books are best-sellers.
Bill hasn’t got much free time, but when he has a chance he likes playing golf and bridge. He also fond of reading about science.
For such a rich person, his life is simple, and he spends very little on himself. When it comes to helping others, though, Gates is very generous. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has already given 300 million dollars to charity, and he says he plans to give away almost all of his wealth when he retires.
