I evaluated 2 essential questions of students from 33-EK.

1)I evaluated the essential question of Saniya Medelkhan.To evaluate  essential questions I used following criteria. Her essential question is: "How can film and book help to learn degrees of comparison?"

 Level of complexity: I think This question is not complicated. Because we can answer this question easily(positively or negatively).It doesn`t require a lot of work from students.

Level of authentecity: The question is connected with the real life.Because  will be interested to learn grammar material by watching films and reading books,not only through reading the rules.

Level coherence: We can see the connection with the discipline.Because all the information will be presented in English. But It is better to compare or to choose  one of them (book or film) because it will be difficult to make project with both of them.

Comments: I think it is not open-ended question,  because it can be answered easily and there is no  more than simple-one word answer.We can give answers: "By watching films or by reading books..".We can change the question like : "Why are films useful to learn degrees of comparison?", or we can compare this 2 ways of learning degrees of comparison "What is the most effective way to learn degrees of comparison:books or films?"

Totally I give 78 points from 100.

2)Next I evaluated essential question of Ardak Beybitkhan. The question is: "What is the difference in use of modal verbs?"

Level of complexity:It doesn`t make a project intriguing and complex. The answer can be solved because students can find information about  The difference between modal verbs in any grammar book.

Level of authentecity:There is no connection with the real life.The theme is not new and students can find a lot of ready information .It is better to make connection with the real life by changing the question.

Level of coherence: The question is definitely connected with the discipline.Students will search information about modal verbs from different sources.It will require a lot of work to   explore the difference in use modal verbs

Comments: The essential question shouldn`t have one right answer. Students can learn the difference in use of modal verbs by different ways(through games,cartoons,books,songs).It is better to change the essential question,connecting it with real life.

Totally I give 75 points from 100.
