For hundreds of years, people thought that the Sun moved around the Earth. This was only natural because when we see the Sun rise in the morning and set in the evening, we can only think that the Sun is moving around us.

But one man did not agree with this idea. He said that if the Sun is moving around the Earth, we cannot explain the movements of Venus. This man finally concluded that the Sun does not move around the Earth, but the Earth moves around the Sun. This man's name is Copernicus.

At first, people thought Copernicus was crazy. They said he was a liar and that he must be killed. And so, Copernicus was burned to death for saying that the Earth moved around the Sun. Later, though, people learned ,that Copernicus was in fact telling the truth.
