Task1.

Look at these photographs. Do you know any of these films? What type of film is each one? Choose from the box.

Thriller, romantic comedy, historical drama, science fiction movie, action film, western, cartoon, war film, musical, travelogue, documentary, horror film, love story.

Task2.

Look at the photos and answer the questions.

Which of these films have you seen?

Which of these films would you like to see? Give your reasons.

What is your favourite kind of film? What kinds don’t you like?

Who is your favourite actor or actress?

If you could meet your favourite actor or actress, what would you say?

Task 3.

A. In what situation might you say the following?

1.What’s on ?

2. Who’s in it?

3.What’s it about ?

4.Where’s it on?

5.What time does it start?

6.Where shall we sit?

7.Where’s the bar?

8.What did you think of it?

Here are situations:

You want to know whether the actors are any good.

You can’t see a free seat anywhere.

You need to know what time to get to the cinema.

You are thirsty.

You are leaving the cinema with a friend.

There are three cinemas in town and you don’t know which is showing the film you want to see.

You haven’t a clue what to go and see.

It might be a horror film and you wouldn’t enjoy that.

B. Act out a dialogue with your partner, using the situations and phrases in task 2

Task 4.

Speak about:

- a film you didn’t enjoy

- your favourite film

- the most frightening film you have

ever seen

- the most exciting film you have ever seen

Task 5.

Here are some of the categories for the annual Academy Award Winners. Each winner gets an Oscar (Nika, Gold Eagle, Centaur).

Look back over the past few years and note down who you would give your awards to for as you can of the categories below.

Work in groups of three or four. First do this task individually and then compare and discuss your notes with your partners and then report your ideas to the class.

Listen to the text “Too much TV” and agree or disagree with the following. If these statements are true put (+), if they are false put (-).
