“ Belonging to a group: for and against”

Discuss your work

• Who are you writing for? ( your teacher, peers, a magazine, some organization, etc.
• Why are you writing? to inform, to explain, to give your opinion, etc.)
• What type of the text are you writing? (an essay, a letter, a newspaper article, a story)
• What language is better for your text? (formal, informal)

Brainstorm the ideas.

• Make a mind map.
• Write down every idea that is mentioned. Do not criticise any of them – the more ideas, the better.

Review the ideas.

• Cross out the ideas that do not seem workable.
• Leave 3 or 4 that you feel you can develop further.

Develop your ideas.

• Distribute the ideas among the members to your group and develop your idea into a shot paragraph.
• Write each paragraph on separate piece of paper.

Structure your text.

• Read aloud each paragraph and discuss them.
• Decide on the order of the paragraphs and arrange them on the desk in this order.

Improve your text.

• Make the text whole, adding introduction, conclusion and links between paragraphs with the help of linking words.
• Check your composition and correct mistakes.

Rewrite your text.

• Choose a person to write for the group.
• Help him/ her to make the necessary additions and changes in the text.

Evaluate other texts.

• Display your work in the class and read them.
• Choose the best composition.
