Our trip to London

Last summer I went to London for the weekend with my parents. On Saturday we went on a sightseeing tour. I really wanted to go shopping in Oxford Street, but Dad said, “You can go shopping when you are at home”. The tour was very interesting. We saw lots of famous places.

Nelson’s Column is in the middle of Trafalgar Square. People come here to celebrate New Year. There are some fountains and statues of lions in the square, too – and lots of the pigeons! I fell in one of the fountains.

At the beginning of the19th century Buckingham Palace was bought by the Duke of Buckingham, and it was called Buckingham House. Today the Queen lives here.

You can take a ride on the London Eye. It’s the biggest wheel of its kind in the world. It takes 30 minutes to go round, and you can see all of London’s famous sights from the top.

From Westminster Bridge you can see Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The real name for this building is the Palace of Westminster.

After the tour we went to Madame Tussaud’s. We saw models of Daniel Radcliffe, Justin Timberlake and lots of other people. But the best thing was an exhibition on the kings and queens of England. It was great! After that we went to see “Billy Elliot” at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

On Sunday morning we went to the Natural History Museum and saw dinosaurs. After that, we had lunch in Hyde Park and then we came home.
