The UK is situated on the British Isles

The UK consists of two large islands: Great Britain and Ireland. Besides there are about 5 ooo small islands. The total area is 244 000 square kilometres. It washed by The Atlantic ocean, The Irish sea and The North sea.

The UK has four parts

• England with its capital LONDON

• Wales with its capital Cardiff

• Scotland with its capital Edinburgh
• Northern Ireland with its capital Belfast

• The population is over 57 million people.

The White Tower was built in 1097. It is the oldest part of the castle. Long time it has been the tallest building in London. (27 metres)

Westminster Abbey
